fish commission selects 2004-05 officers

The Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission has elected its
2004-05 slate of officers to lead the Portland-based agency.
The commission’s governing body comprises fish and wildlife
committees of the four Columbia River treaty tribes CRITFC serves.
Officers hold one-year terms:
- Chairman – Jay Minthorn of the Confederated
Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Minthorn, former vice
chairman of the commission, also chairs the Umatilla tribe’s
fish and wildlife committee and the Oregon Commission on Indian
Services.
- Vice Chairman – Allen Slickpoo Jr., Nez
Perce Tribe. Slickpoo, former CRITFC treasurer, additionally chairs
the Nez Perce’s natural resources subcommittee.
- Secretary – Harold Blackwolf Sr., Warm
Springs Reservation of Oregon. Blackwolf, immediate past chairman
of the commission, also leads the Warm Springs’ fish and
wildlife committee.
- Treasurer –Virgil Lewis Sr., Confederated
Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation. Lewis, former secretary
of the commission, also serves on the Yakama Nation’s fish
and wildlife committee.

About CRITFC
The Portland-based Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission is
the technical support and coordinating agency for fishery management
policies of the Columbia River Basin's four treaty tribes: the Confederated
Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, the Confederated Tribes
of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon, the Confederated Tribes
and Bands of the Yakama Nation and the Nez Perce Tribe.
CRITFC, formed in 1977, employs biologists, other scientists, public
information specialists, policy analysts and administrators who work
in fisheries research and analyses, advocacy, planning and coordination,
harvest control and law enforcement. |
