Project Grants Specialist/Coordinator

The Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission (CRITFC) receives funding to carry out salmon restoration projects in the Columbia River Basin, consistent with the tribes’ salmon restoration plan: Wy-Kan-Ush-Mi Wa-Kish-Wit. The Watershed Grants Management Specialist is an entry level position and will assist in the coordination of various contracts with CRITFC’s four member tribes and the Watershed Department as related to salmon habitat restoration, salmon stock enhancement, salmon research, and artificial propagation activities. Primary duties include filing documents, tracking over 80 tribal projects with an electronic database, administrative activities at the direction of the Watershed Department Manager and compiling contract deliverables. Knowledge of graphics layout and photography are desired, but not a requirement.

Essential Job Functions
Specific duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
  1. Utilize a filing system to document tribal and Watershed Department contracts.
  2. Manage and utilize an electronic database to track progress of various tribal contracts and projects (proposals, contracts, monitoring and evaluation, reporting).
  3. Track all project budgets and produce monthly budget status reports.
  4. Assist in the development of informational documents that promote continued funding of projects with the use of graphics layout.
  5. Other duties as occasionally assigned by the Watershed Department Manager.
  6. Provide general support services for department staff including, word processing, copying, faxing, etc.
Job Requirements/Qualifications
  1. Bachelor degree in natural resources, finance, computer or related technical field. Relevant work experience can substitute for a Bachelor degree.
  2. Experience/knowledge of grant administration and budgeting.
  3. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  4. Excellent organizational ability. The Project Grants Specialist/Coordinator must be highly motivated and detail oriented. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical.
  5. Excellent ability with Microsoft Excel and experience with Microsoft Access or other database software.
  6. Time management. The Project Grants Specialist/Coordinator must be able to identify priority activities and schedule his/her time effectively to meet schedules and deadlines.
  7. Good inter-personal skills to work effectively with CRITFC/tribal staff.
  8. Dependable work habits including regular attendance, and punctuality in all matters concerning work and work assignments.
  9. Valid state driver license.

    In addition, the following qualifications are desired:
    • Experience with graphics layout and publications development.
    • Photography skills and Photoshop experience.
    • Geographic Information System mapping.
Supervision Received
The Watershed Department Manager will supervise the Project Grants Specialist/Coordinator. The Watershed Programs Coordinator may also provide specific direction on daily activities.

Working Conditions
The work is sedentary and requires a high concentration and attention to detail. Work assignments are multiple and performed at times under severe time constraints. Work will regularly involve use of computers. Some travel to project sites within the Columbia Basin will also be required.
